Bubble pack

Packed circles sized by area.

How to read it

Area is the value — not radius, not width. The packing is layout only, so position means nothing. When the clip opens zoomed in on the smallest bubble, every bubble is scaled by the same amount, so the areas stay comparable at every moment of the pull-back.

Best for

Magnitude gaps so large that bars would flatten everything but the leader.

When not to use it

The values sit close together, where small differences in area are almost invisible.

The common mistake

Sizing by diameter. It exaggerates every gap, because area grows with the square.
