Flows 3d
How to read it
Each arc runs from where the flow starts to where it ends, and its thickness is its size; the chip over the arc and the scoreboard print the exact figure, the top spot sealed until the reveal. On the live chart, drag to spin the globe.
Best for
Two to six corridors (remittances, migration, trade) where where it leaves and where it lands is the story.
When not to use it
The flows run between neighbours, so short that the arc is a dot, or there are many flows in every direction.
The common mistake
Reading an arc's length as its size: a long arc only means the two countries are far apart; thickness and the printed number are the size.
Example data
Where the world's biggest remittances go
Money sent home by migrant workers, 2021, US dollars
